Taking Glimpse With Ubuntu

February 18, 2008 By: orgl Category: Operating System, Software, Ubuntu 3 Comments →

The Ubuntu Linux is a free operating system that has been developed and deployed to the public. Today, Ubuntu is gradually winning its popularity amongst computer enthusiasts around the world and been accepted by novice and professional users. Without any further introduction, Ubuntu has taken its virtue to compete with major operating systems in the market like Windows and the Mac OS.

In fact, Dell Computers–one of the leading computer manufacturers in the world, adopted the Ubuntu operating system and the said company had realized that Ubuntu Linux has the great potential to succeed and steadily provides cost effective and alternative operating system for the new generations of computer users.

Taking glimpse with Ubuntu is as easy as download or request the latest copy of your very own installer at Ubuntu Requesting CD site. In my case, it took only 3 weeks for receiving the package from Canonical. The package contains two separate version of Ubuntu 7.10 (x86 and 64bit) platform. It is worth my time waiting for this package and to my surprise they even included an Ubuntu sticker. The installer has a live session function that runs to your pc without installing in your hard drive. Just pop in your Ubuntu CD and boot to your CDROM drive for previewing what Ubuntu Linux has to offer.

Where in the World is Jim Ayson?

February 14, 2008 By: orgl Category: Cyber Personality, Internet Guru 2 Comments →

During the early 90’s, I was hooked up from digging some information about computers. Therefore, what I did during that time is that I had been opted to buy books and magazines from the local bookstore. Until I found a local published Philippine computer magazine known as the “PC Digest” a well-known computer magazine for most Pinoy computer aficionados.

Since then I was been a consistent follower and reader of PC Digest due to its relevant content that regularly updates me from reading every magazine issues they had in the past. PC Digest itself has several informative contents including a column from Mr. Jim Ayson called the “Ayson Chronicles” – which one of the best column that contains informative and relevant inputs regarding computers and trends that contributed a lot of information and facts during those years.

Protect Your Eyes from Eyestrain

February 07, 2008 By: orgl Category: Computing Health Tips 1 Comment →

I had been a consistent computer user for the last 18 years of my life. Since 1990, I had been a hobbyist and done much more of my stuff with my first desktop pc. During that year, I was using a CGA paper white monitor up until in late 1994 when I first entered a career in electronic data processing, which took me from using different generations of computer systems that uses different types of monitor like the green character displayed CRT’s, paper white, and later in 1996 a colored VGA monitor.

I had been an employee for 6 years in the company and I had never tried or needed an eye correction glasses because, I had been cautious to protect my eyes from computer eyestrain. Maintaining and protecting my vision was on my top priority every time I am required to work in front of a computer or by reading bulk documents in a prolonged period. The secret that took me from avoiding eyestrain for several years was simple; do not make it a habit staring with your monitor more than 30 minutes. Practice it and make your eyes rest by staring at far places in your room or work places for about a minute or two.

WordPress 2.3.3 Upgrade

February 06, 2008 By: orgl Category: Personal, WordPress No Comments →

Just upgraded my WordPress 2.3.2 to 2.3.3, I never thought how easy it can be by using the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plug-in. Thanks to C5 for being online and sharing this plug-in from Techie-Buzz blog site. Anyway, the plug-in really simplified the process for upgrading WordPress and the good thing about it—you can keep and use it until new WordPress version comes out; and one more thing about the WordPress automatic upgrade plug-in, the creator have plan to upgrade it with a rollback feature in order us to restore our previous WordPress installation. I owe you a lot for saving my day from suffering for possible migraine.

Cheers!
