My First Joomla Encounter
Joomla is brain-dead easy for professionals but not for me (LOL). But seriously I got interested with it mainly because I want learn and explore everything what is available on the web. I am trying hard and “trying hard” to pick something for myself to gain additional knowledge and monetize from it later on.
It has been a couple of weeks since I began working all the time with Joomla installation and fortunately got my new half-baked website working after the trial and error with the installation. Joomla 1.5.x was really pain in the neck for a first timer who does not care to read along with the manual hehehe my bad but don’t blame me I’m not really that lazy, I’m just too much excited about it.
It took me around five trials using both manual and browser driven installation before I actually and successfully got the right back-end user/pass login. I almost surrender myself with Joomla but with constant reading along in the forums and it really paid off to get things done.
The Installation Process
- Uploading the unzip Joomla 1.5.2 source using FTP
- Creating/Uploading empty CONFIGURATION.PHP
- Make CONFIGURATION.PHP file WRITABLE using CHMOD
- Create MYSQL database
- Invoked Joomla browser installation
- Supplied necessary information required by the wizard
- Deleting installation folder after the installation
- Login at http://domain.com/administrator
The Final Touch
Here is where I’m gonna start again, repeating the same procedure by reading information on forums and help files to put Joomla jigsaw into a full-blown website hehehe and more power for me cheers!

Yap, you’re right. I also find Joomla quite intimidating for the first time you encounter it. Installation, mods, plugin will surely required most your time. Anyway goodluck to your new site. Cheers!
